Young sp: The post-juvenile moult includes the body and usually all LC, MC and inner GC (90% of our birds at Ottenby have included 3-5 inner GC in the moult). According to Jenni & Winkler (1994) and Svensson (1992) range include 0-10 GC, but the extremes are rare. A few birds may also include single CC, tertial or alula feathers. Adult SC: The post-breeding moult includes the whole plumage.
Number of GC included in the post-juvenile moult shown as percentage of 1cy and 2cy birds at Ottenby 2000-2014 (n=17).
[The symbol + is used for birds showing irregular moult sequence.]
[Two categories of birds were excluded: 1) Birds that had not yet conducted the moult of the GC, and 2) birds where the assessment of the moult was deemed as less certain.]
